ABOUT CHANDOGYA UPANISHAD

AUM SRI SAI RAM AUM SRI SAI RAM
It ranks among the oldest Upnishads ,dating to the vedic Brahmana period.It is associated with Samaveda. it figures no 9 among the 108 Upanishads.This Upnishad is an ancient source of vedantic philosophy.A no. of ref made in the Brahma Sutra indicate the special importance of this upnishad in vedntic philosophy.This Upnishad is a part of Chandogya Brahmana .This upanishad has eight chaptersThe first five deals with various upasanas or forms of approaching the ideal and last three chapers explain the way of obtaining true knowledge.It highlights the importance of chanting Om. It also advises to lead sacred life with sacrifice austerity, clarity and study of vedas. The doctrine of reincarnation appears in this Upanishad.
The first chapter of this upnishad deals with the method of upasana of Ud Geetha ( holy Syllable Om)
The second chapter deals with different upasanas of variou organs of Sama
The third chapter deals with the upsana of sun and this upsana is known as madhu vidya.
The fourth schapter explains a medicational practice called Sama varga vidya.
The fifth chapter deals with a esoteric knowledge of five fires (Panchangi Vidya)
The sixth chapter contains the most important message of this upnishad. It establishes the principle of oneness of Atman with all beings and non- beings.
The seventh chapter describes the well known dialogue between sage Sanatkumara and Narada establishing the ultimate principle of Universe is the only way to ride over sorrows of man.
In the eigth chapter a meditation technique of concentratig in the cave of heart and Brahman is explained
