AUM SRI SAI RAM AUM SRI SAI RAM
It is one of the oldest Upanishads commented upon by Adi Sankara. It is a primary Upanishad ,also associated with Atharva Veda.In Sanskrit 'Prashna' means questions. This Upanishad contains six questions and their answers, hence this name 'Prashnaopishad.'As narrated in the begining of this Upanishad, six pupils interested in knowing the Brahman came to sage Pippalada and asked questions of spiritual importance. The sage asked them to take up penance for one year. After completing one year, they again came to sage and asked questions. Then the sage answered their questions.
The first question is about the root cause of this Universe asked by Kabandhi , the son of Katye.
The second quesion is concerned with supermacy of Prana over other sense organs of human being, asked by Bhargava of the country of Vidarbha
The third question is about the origin of and function of Vital force of life ,asked by Kausalya, the son of Ashwalayane
The fouth question asked by Sauryayanee Of Gargya Gotra is about Dream World of the sleeping persons.
The fifth question is about fruits one gets by meditating Holy Syllable 'OM' asked by Shailya Satyakakam
The sixth question is about by whom all this known- unknown Universe got created and who has sixteen vital things(kala) or who is called as Shodasha Kala Purusha (asked by son of Bhardwaja,Sukesha)
Pippalada answered all the questions with great depth. He starts with the origin of all existence in terms of matter and energy. The answer to the last question is that the ultimate supreme source of existence is Brahman.Indeed this is the answer of all the Upanishads
